Meanwhile, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” (Atlantic / Warner) just missed a top spot on the national survey, as did Jawsh 685 x Jason Derulo’s “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” (Columbia / Sony) pack a sixth week at the top.
Folklore, which also controls the album charts in the US and UK, will have to continue charting high after their release on CD in Australia. It is the only album this year that the ARIA no. 1 lasts more than two weeks.
American country star Luke Bryan has his third Top 10 as Born Here Live Here The Lord (Capitol / Universal) begins at No. 2, a new career high. Born here beats Bryan’s previous best, a no. 4-peak for 2015s Kill The Lights.
Homegrown metalcore outfit In Hearts Wake scores a fourth career Top 10 with Kaliyuga (UNFD / Orchard), new at no. 3. It’s the Byron Bay band’s fifth studio album, and for the first time since Ark went to no. June 3, 2017. Kaliyuga is the leader on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Charts.
British outfit Glass Animals scores a career-high No. 2 in their home country Dreamland (Polydor / Universal). The new set arrives at No. 6 in Australia, where its first Top 10 has previously had an impact with the ARIA Chart How to be a human being (No. 11 in September 2016) and Zaba (No. 12 in June 2014).
Another British act that felt its presence in this chart cycle is Deep Purple. The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inducted rockers blast to no. 13 May Whoosh! (Sony Music), the sequel to 2017s Infinite, which picks up on no. 20.
New releases of Aussie acts Bronson (Bronson at no. 22 fia Warner Music), Stand Atlantic (Pink Elephant at no. 23 via Hopeless Records / Remote Control Records), sleepmakeswaves (These Are Not Your Dreams at no. 25 via Bird’s Robe Records / MGM), and Teeny Tiny Stevies (Thoughtful songs for little people on No. 33 via ABC / Universal) cracked the Top 40.
On the ARIA Singles Chart, Kiwi producer Jawsh 685 and American singer Jason Derulo “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” set a new mark for most weeks at no. 1 by an artist from New Zealand, and breaks the previous record set by OMC’s “How Bizarre” in April 1996.
Cardi B grabs her first Top Ten entry as lead artist with ‘WAP’, her new release featuring Megan Thee Stallion. It’s new on no. 2. So far, Cardi’s highest charting single “I Like It”, which was no. Reached July 14, 2018.
The late American rapper Juice WRLD lands a third entry in this week’s ARIA Top 50 as “Smile” (Interscope / Universal) with The Weeknd starting at no. 8. Juice also takes places no. 9 with “Come & Go” and No. May 20 “Wishing Well”.
Finally, Sia makes her first appearance in the ARIA Top 50 in two years with “Together” (Atlantic / Warner), new to no. 48. The single is lifted from the soundtrack after Music, the upcoming film written and directed by the Aussie artist.
