Taylor ‘Swift’ Folklore ‘enters no. 1 in the United Kingdom


Taylor Swift logs a third consecutive week at the top of the Official UK Albums Chart with Folklore (EMI), as well as Joel Corry and MNEK’s “Head & Heart” (Asylum / Perfect Havoc) a full month at no. 1 locked up in the national survey for singles.

Swift’s latest set rules the current template frame after blowing up competition with a margin of 6,000 ticket sales, according to the Official Charts Company. It is the fifth leader of the American pop star on the ground.

Four-piece Oxford Glass animals scored a career high with Dreamland (Polydor), new at no. 2. The LP easily outperforms the best no. 23 of her sophomore and latest album, How to be a human being, from 2016 onwards. Dreamland is the best-selling vinyl title of the week.

Heavy metal veterans Deep purple enjoy a rare Top 5 appearance as Whoosh! (Ear Music) bends at no. 4. It’s Hall of Famers’ 21st studio album, and 11th Top 10 attempt, most recently with 2017’s Infinite highlight at no. 6. Whoosh! is the legendary English rockers’ highest charting album since their chart topper from 1980 Deepest pear.

Also influencing the UK albums chart this week is K-pop superstars BTS May Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey (EMI), their latest Japanese album. It’s new on no. 35, for the boyband’s fourth UK Top 40 title.

Over on the official UK Singles Chart, Joel Corry en MNEK’s “Head & Heart” extends its streak to no. 1 to four weeks. In its sixth frame, “Head & Heart” climbed in with 81,000 chart sales, including 9.9 million audio and video streams, for its strongest week to date.

The highest new entrance belongs to Cardi B en Megan Thee Stallion as its powerhouse “WAP” (Atlantic Records) opens at number 4. It is Cardi’s fifth UK Top 10 and Megan’s second, and her strongest single chart debut to date, reports the OCC.

Elsewhere on the map, there is a notable climb for “Mood Swings” (Republic Records), recorded by the late American rapper Pop Smoke en Lil Tjay. It’s up 16-8, ahead of Pop’s second UK Top 10 and a new career high (“The Woo” reached No. 9 in July).

The Official UK Singles and Albums Charts will be released late Friday.
