In a meeting on the real estate reality show Heaven, “Flip or Flop” star Tarek El Moussa agrees to marry “Selling Sunset” star Heather Rae Young.
The two announced they would be closing their deal during a surprise one-year anniversary celebration on California’s Catalina Island, posting photos from the time of the romantic proposal on Sunday.
“She said yes!” The 38-year-old Moussa wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of him placing the eight-carat emerald-cut diamond ring on Young’s finger, using the hashtag #FlippingHerLastName.
Young, 32, showed the same photo on Instagram, confirming the happy news and the name change. “The future Mrs. Tarek El Moussa !!!!” she wrote in the caption.
The two began the celebration with a candlelight dinner on a boat off Newport Beach, California, “and the most incredible private chef,” El Moussa wrote on Instagram. Young noted there were four courses with vegan options.
She posted to Instagram from a spa on Catalina Island before the proposal, writing: “One of us is having the best weekend surprise of his life” Thank you my love. “
In a tuxedo, El Moussa proposed with one knee in the sand on Saturday night. He told People.com that the colorless, emerald-cut eight-carat diamond engagement ring he chose is “perfect in every way, just like Heather.” Eight is also your lucky number.
The two celebrated the engagement on Saturday night. “We did it,” they said during a kissing selfie video, Instagram Stories, from the pool chairs.
“This weekend has been a nightmare trying to hide it from him,” El Mussa said in the video. “We had a spectacular time and I am in love and committed.”
The Moussa finalized his highly publicized divorce from his ex-wife Christina Anstead in 2018 after they separated in 2016. They share two children: their daughter Taylor, 9, and their son Brayden, 4.
“I will be honest and say that I never thought I would meet someone special … Then all of a sudden @heatherraeyoung came into my life,” El Moussa wrote on Instagram in August. “I just want the world to know that I met someone special who makes me want to be a better man.”
