In the wake of yesterday’s report on all three new “Star Trek” movies in development that are on indefinite until Paramount Pictures decides which one to follow, more details about one of them have appeared.
Specifically, the R-rated pitch by filmmaker Quentin Tarantino who came up with a story idea and developed a story idea that “The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith then wrote in a draft. Tarantino previously described his take as a ‘Pulp Fiction in space’, but also very Trek – the premise that makes it possible to explore the Federation’s primary directive and cultural contamination, and the most gangster institution by which they can cut on visual effects (and budget), while emphasizing dialogue and humor. Plus linking to an old episode of the original series has previously worked as well with “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”.
Tarantino confirmed his departure from service in January as a potential director for the project in January, saying: ‘I think they might make that film, but I just do not think I will direct it. It’s a good idea. They should definitely do it and I will be happy to come in and give them some notes on the first raw cut. ”
