Viola Davis showed her support for Tamar Braxton after the singer suffered a possible intentional overdose on Thursday.
The 43-year-old star is recovering in hospital after her boyfriend David Adefeso, 49, did not respond, at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in downtown Los Angeles. The 911 call suggested that he could have overdosed on prescription drugs.
Davis, 54, tweeted a message of support, acknowledging the situation and raising awareness about mental health and addiction.
Praying for Tamar Braxton. Mental health must be part of our ‘awakening’, ”Davis wrote Friday. “There is strength in vulnerability. Miss Tamar Braxton matters. Praying for you, your beautiful son and family. “
The Braxton family spokesman issued a statement to update the public after the incident: “Tamar has had a very hard and emotional day; More information will come in the coming days. Please pray for her.
Braxton is being monitored 24 hours a day, as some believe she attempted to kill herself, NME reports. It is currently in stable condition.
The R&B vocalist and reality TV personality has released five albums, most recently “Bluebird of Happiness” from 2017, and has starred alongside her famous sisters in “Braxton Family Values” since 2011.
