Taiwan is a “hard island”. After hundreds of years of vicissitudes, you can finally overcome adversity and survive. This painful experience has kept the government and the public very vigilant in the early stages of the epidemic. In December last year, when China began to show signs of new infectious respiratory diseases, we began to monitor the health status of travelers entering Wuhan. In January of this year, we established the Central Epidemic Command Center to promote epidemic prevention measures, implement travel restrictions, and formulate isolation and disposal procedures for high-risk passengers.
On January 21, after the first confirmed case appeared in Taiwan, a strict epidemiological survey was conducted to track the travel and contact history of each case to prevent large-scale community infections from occurring.
