The Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation announced today (29) a national survey for December 2020. In terms of satisfaction with the governance of President Tsai Ing-wen, 52.8% are satisfied and 36.3% are dissatisfied. In various aspects of governance, satisfaction with economic performance reached 58.0%, satisfaction with national defense performance was 61.5%, and satisfaction with diplomatic performance was 60.0%, all with record levels.

The survey results show that 17.5% of Tsai Ing-wen’s overall governance performance strongly agree, 35.3% strongly agree, 20.6% disagree, 15, 7% do not agree at all and 11% have no opinion, do not know or refuse to answer. In total, 52.8% were satisfied and 36.3% were not satisfied.
In terms of economic performance, 18% were very satisfied, 40% were quite satisfied, 21.4% were not satisfied, 16.2% were not satisfied at all, and 4.4% had no comments, no knew or refused to answer. In total, 58.0% were satisfied and 37.6% were not satisfied.

Regarding the performance of the defense, 23.6% were very satisfied, 37.9% were quite satisfied, 16.8% were not satisfied, 14.4% were not satisfied at all and 7.4% % had no comment, did not know, or refused to respond. In total, 61.5% were satisfied and 31.2% were dissatisfied.

Regarding diplomatic performance, 21.6% were very satisfied, 38.4% were quite satisfied, 19.9% were not satisfied, 15.2% were not at all satisfied and 5% did not comment. , did not know and refused to answer. In total, 60.0% were satisfied and 35.1% were dissatisfied.

In this survey, Professor You Yinglong of the Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation was responsible for the questionnaire design, report writing, interpretation of research results, and analysis of relevant public policies and policy implications; The Foundation commissioned Shanshui Public Opinion Research Company to handle the sample design, telephone interviews and Statistical Analysis. The visiting period is two days from December 21-22, 2020; adults over 20 are nationwide; The sampling method is based on the national residential telephone users as the sampling structure, and the sampling method is systematic and random with two mantissa codes; valid sample 1071 people; the sampling error is plus or minus 2.99 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
