Meteorological bureau forecaster Xu Zhongyi said the lightning is now very close to Taiwan, and the storm circle may make landfall this morning. At present, the external circulation has affected the Huadong area and the Hengchun Peninsula, and the southern part has also started to have a light and brief rain. It is estimated that it will fall until dawn tomorrow. Rain is expected to be most evident in Taitung and the Hengchun Peninsula.At 8 o’clock this morning, the light station’s beam center is located about 150 kilometers southeast of Eluanbi; the maximum wind speed near the center is 28 meters per second (about 101 kilometers per hour), which is equivalent to 10 winds; the radius of the 7 storm winds is 120 kilometers. The Met Office noted that the center of the typhoon is currently in the sea southeast of Eluanbi, moving northwest and west, and its storm circle has entered the Bashi Strait and the southeast Taiwan Sea, off Taitung (including Lanyu, Green Island), Pingtung, Hengchun Peninsula, Kaohsiung and Tainan pose a threat.
Xu Zhongyi said that in addition to reminding ships working at sea to be strictly guarded, the wind and waves on land will gradually increase as the typhoon approaches. Beware of strong gusts in the southeast and the coast of the Hengchun Peninsula. This morning, Lanyu has observed a magnitude 14 Strong gusts, 10 strong gusts were also observed in Ludao and the Hengchun Peninsula. In terms of rain, Xu Zhongyi said that from day to late at night, the rain will increase in the Huadong area and the Hengchun Peninsula, mainly concentrated in Huadong and the Hengchun Peninsula. There may be heavy local rains and heavy rains, gradually weakening after tomorrow. Tomorrow will be affected by the northeast wind, the lightning path of the light station will gradually begin to move south, and the rain will gradually decrease in Huadong.
