Reporter Hong Lingming / Taipei Report
Two typhoons were named yesterday in less than 24 hours (29), namely “Swan” and “Lightning”. Seven typhoons have been generated since October, which is also the record for the largest number of typhoons generated in October since 1984 (8). The Met Office stated that Typhoon “Swan” does not have a direct impact on Taiwan, but the current trajectory of the Typhoon “Lightning” is quite different and it is estimated thatNext Tuesday, all three roads will be clearer.

Meteorological Bureau forecaster Lin Dingyi said the typhoon “lightning” has yet to receive an observation period of more than three days. The estimated trajectory pattern varies from country to country, and the uncertainty is considerable. It depends on the traction condition of the northern high-altitude trough line, and no conclusion can be drawn at the moment.
Meteorological experts from all walks of life have also presented their views. Wu Shengyu pointed out that Typhoon “Lightning”, JTWC (Joint Typhoon Warning Center) has just been upgraded to a 23W tropical depression, but the JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) is eager to update the name at night, the only Reason may be Southeast quadrant wind sweep seems big enough! The future dynamics of typhoon lightning will change enormously, and it remains to be observed. The quality of the weather next weekend will be the most important key.
Fans of “Weather Risk” also have the same opinion. There are many variables in the generation of lightning typhoons. Typhoon Swan’s trajectory is more stable in the forecast, while Typhoon Lightning is more complicated. Previous forecasts were primarily based on the dynamics of the East Asia Pacific peak. It is true that there is a possibility that the typhoon will recede to the east and allow the typhoon to move north. Although it briefly weakened and retreated east, it held steady.

The “lightning” will gradually move to the current “swan” position or even further north next week, then gradually go west, with the possibility of passing near Luzon to the Bashi canal. At the same time, when Swan entered the South China Sea, the dynamic environmental conditions of the typhoon lightning gradually improved and it had a chance to become a bigger and stronger typhoon.
Although many forecasts have converged a lot, there are still variables. This is the key to the degree of impact on the climate of Taiwan in the three days of next Thursday, May and June. If based on most current forecasts, it is a little further north than the first five typhoons in October. Some, in the northern part of Luzon Island or across the Bashi Strait, similar to the heavy rain developed by warm and humid water from the north and northeast wind in the eastern sea of Taiwan, there is a possibility. Generally speaking, the extent of typhoon lightning’s impact in Taiwan is still uncertain, but it is worth paying attention to. Given that the time of occurrence has already arrived in early November, it may be the final key to determining whether this year can bring abundant water resources.
Regarding the weather this weekend, the Bureau of Meteorology stated that it is still affected by the northeast wind. This (30) overnight (31) will be the coldest period of the northeast wind. The later it gets colder. The temperature in Taiwan is 19-19 to 21 degrees, the temperature in the open coastal areas north of the central region will be lower, estimated at only 17 to 18 degrees. Tomorrow, the northeast wind will weaken after the day and the temperature will gradually increase in several places. It is comfortable and cool in the morning and at night. You should pay attention to the temperature difference between day and night in the central and southern regions. The high temperature is 29-30 degrees and the low temperature is 20 degrees. People leaving early and returning late should bring warm clothing to avoid catching a cold.
