Dr. Hong Qianhui said that the incidence of allergic diseases in Taiwan has increased year after year. Statistics from 2000 to 2007 show that atopic dermatitis is approximately 6.7%, allergic rhinitis is 26.3%, food allergy is approximately 6.95%, and asthma is 11.9% . %, among which allergic rhinitis has the highest incidence.
Dr. Hong Qianhui pointed out that allergic rhinitis is the most common allergic disease in childhood. A number of symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose and nasal congestion are often present. Also, the inflammatory response is not limited to the nasal cavity, but is often accompanied by conjunctivitis, such as itchy eyes. If left untreated, it will be accompanied by complications such as sinusitis, nasal polyps, tooth malocclusion, inattention, hyperactivity, sleep disorders, etc.
Dr. Hong Qianhui said that depending on the severity of the symptoms, they are classified as mild, moderate to severe. In terms of treatment, if mild intermittent allergic rhinitis is symptomatic, then medication; moderate to severe and persistent rhinitis, it is recommended to continue using medication to control. Intermittent treatment medications may consider short-term oral or intranasal antihistamines and intranasal steroids when there are symptoms. For persistent rhinitis, prolonged use of intranasal steroids or intranasal steroids in combination with antihistamines is recommended.
Also, Dr. Hong Qianhui recalled that nasal swelling is a common complication of allergic rhinitis. It is usually bilateral. It grows from the ethmoid sinus and extends into the nasal cavity. It grows between the middle nose clip and the lower nose clip. It can be seen through the endoscope. Or diagnosed by CT scan. The symptoms of rhinoplasty are a runny nose, nasal congestion, abnormal odor, and facial sensitivity. If symptoms persist for more than 12 weeks, pay special attention.
