In a report, US officials accused Chinese-related hackers of attacking the New Crown Virus research institute. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said the agency has detected hacker attacks on institutions that develop, treat, and test vaccines against new coronaviruses in the United States.
The warning issued on Wednesday (May 13) did not provide detailed information about the hacker’s target or identity. The Chinese embassy criticized the accusation as “a lie.”
The global pandemic of the New Crown Epidemic has exacerbated the tension between China and the United States, and the two countries accuse each other of failing to effectively control the epidemic. According to a Reuters report, the Chinese embassy in the United States condemned the accusation as a “lie” in a written statement and emphasized that “the FBI issued a warning based on the presumption of guilt and there is no evidence.”

Earlier in a press conference on Monday, referring to the issue of so-called online activities in China, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, also responded.

The United States accused China of hacking the New Crown Research Institute shortly before. In another separate incident, China also appeared to be the target of the attack.
FireEye, a US cybersecurity company, released a report in late April saying there is evidence that Vietnamese “APT32” hackers carried out cyber espionage activities against Chinese government departments.
