Last week, the US House of Representatives released two investigative reports on China led by the Republican Party and the Democratic Party, giving the outside world a glimpse of possible strategies the United States may adopt toward China after the elections.

The report issued by the China Task Force led by the Republican Party of the United States reviewed the threat from China, describing the failure of the previous strategy of assuming that the expansion of economic relations between the United States and China would lead to changes in the CCP. Hundreds of policy recommendations were proposed, suggesting that the United States and Taiwan should continue. The free trade negotiations seek greater participation by Taiwan in international organizations, pass bills that allow more official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, and provide a “safe haven” for Hong Kong residents oppressed by Beijing.

The report led by the US Democratic Party is directed at government intelligence agencies and believes that reforms are still needed to promote intelligence agencies’ cooperation with non-defense agencies such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Trade and health and disaster management agencies to join and train more China. Analysts will strengthen China’s intelligence analysis and respond to “soft threats” from China.

What are the contents of the two reports?
