A mysterious new disease appears to be affecting children who medical experts believe may be associated with the coronavirus.
At least 15 children ages 2 to 15 were hospitalized in New York City with an inflammatory disease. Health experts believe that the symptomatology of the infection is similar to that of Kawasaki syndrome.
In addition, it was found that of the 15 hospitalized, four tested positive for the coronavirus and the other six who tested negative had antibodies against the coronavirus, meaning that they had been infected with the virus before but recovered.

Another doctor named Aryeh Baer, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey, said he successfully treated five children with similar symptoms. She stated that all patients recovered with supportive care that includes antibiotics and blood pressure medications.
Speaking about whether the disease is associated with COVID-19, he said: “” We cannot say for sure that it is COVID, but it would certainly be a great coincidence. We have never seen anything like this before with all these children with inflammatory syndrome “

The New York City Department of Health has issued a health alert on it, urging hospitals to track and report such cases.
