Chen Junsheng, chairman and chief executive officer of Acer, a maker of computer brands, said the Chromebook market is in high demand and Acer is seriously short of stocks.

Acer, Quanta, MediaTek and Google jointly held a press conference today on the launch of the Chromebook Industry Chain’s Taiwan Educational Digital Transformation Project. They will donate 500 Chromebook devices to elementary and middle schools in need, and Chromebook-exclusive personalized IoT pilot courses.

Chen Junsheng said in a speech that the shortage of Acer Chromebooks is so dire now that he is concerned if there is a “three meals” request from Quanta, but found that the “three meals” are not enough because the market demand for Chromebooks is greater than expected.

Chen Junsheng said that to deal with the shortage, Acer did two things. The first is to introduce a large number of MediaTek processor models to make the supply more diverse. Second, digital education has been talked about for over ten years, but this epidemic naturally made digital education happen. He thanked Quanta and MediaTek for cooperating, and also thanked Google for making the system very stable so that Taiwanese students can enjoy the best technology. .

Quanta President Lin Baili noted that Quanta has never released a product in the past 30 years because it was published by others. Quanta has developed products together with Acer and MediaTek. Chromebook is one of the best products you’ve made in the last 30 years. It is the “product of your dreams”. It is cloud-centric, laptops are used as terminals, and it can do remote computing. , Education and all services, I used to imagine the impact of the cloud on humans, and it is realized in this product.

Lin Baili emphasized that most of the Chromebook components released today are made in Taiwan, including the central processing unit provided by MediaTek. This is a very important milestone. This is where Shi Zhenrong came up with the most profitable smile curve. Chromebooks are focused on the education market. Now, because of the epidemic, remote teaching is more important. Children cannot go to school. This gap is connected by Chromebooks.

Lin Baili frankly said that distance learning has been taught for 10 years, but there is no good equipment and teaching materials. Now, due to the epidemic, everyone must develop distance learning. She saw a very big change in foreign countries, as there are good things, of course she must share it with national schools, and she must rapidly promote the digital transformation of education.

Ma Dakang, managing director of Google Taiwan, said that Google will increase its efforts to provide training for digital education teachers to meet the future needs of Taiwan’s and global education market.
