The New Zealand pilot let the local zero diagnosis break the mark and pointed to EVA Air. Taiwanese Captain Xu Weijun, who is also the EVA Air 777 fleet, posted a post on Facebook earlier, apologizing to the Chinese for “being a member of EVA Air”, but also emphasizing that the vast majority of pilots are still conscientious and they will not shirk responsibility. Expect the public to believe that EVA Air will strengthen the management in the future and will not be disappointed.
Xu Weijun also explained that the “prerequisite” for the crew to isolate themselves for 3 days is that they can only stay in a hotel and cannot leave when flying abroad, and they cannot leave for another three days after returning to Taiwan. For the entire flight, it has reached 8-10. Many pilots have been quarantined for more than 60 days after returning to Taiwan, excluding the number of quarantine days in foreign hotels, and have suffered tremendously both physically and mentally.
Captain Xu Weijun posted the following:
First of all, I would like to express my sincere apologies to everyone. As a member of EVA Air, we are ashamed and sorry for the Chinese people.
Confirmed local case # 765 recently blew up. It originated from the non-compliance by the captain of the company with the regulations against the epidemic. After the news broke, not only the Chinese people, but also colleagues throughout the company, especially all the pilots, were shocked, embarrassed, angry and guilty. There are many complicated emotions in life. Since the beginning of the epidemic, most colleagues in the company have been conscientious and have adhered to the relevant government regulations for the prevention of epidemics. Company colleagues, whether they are pilots or flight attendants, are fired as long as the evidence is clear. There are currently 4 flight attendants and 2 pilots who have been expelled from the company for violating epidemic prevention regulations and they have left the company.
Regarding the part of the general public: The crew members will only be in isolation for three days when they return to Taiwan. I would like to explain that there are prerequisites for this regulation: One is to regulate that the crew can only stay in hotels and not go out when flying abroad. It is regulated that after returning to Taiwan, you cannot leave for another three days. For the entire flight, it has been in quarantine for 8-10 days. When you calculate it, you can only have two long shifts in a month on average, because the isolation time is only more than half a month. Since the implementation in March to the present, many pilots have already returned to Taiwan for more than 60 days of quarantine, excluding the number of days of quarantine in foreign hotels. Under the long-term war of resistance when the epidemic is unclear, we do not know if this situation will continue. For how long it lasted, all the pilots suffered tremendously physically and mentally.
One of the responsibilities of the pilot is to transport all protective equipment: masks, protective clothing and possibly medical supplies, vaccines, etc., to all parts of the world. I deeply feel that we have a great responsibility, and we also feel very comfortable that we can at least do a little bit for the country and the people. However, the strict fulfillment of duties and efforts has been destroyed by a rebellious foreign captain … .., the pain in my heart is beyond words, I just want to express: Most of our pilots are diligent and diligent in comply with the regulations of the competent authority, to be proud to contribute to the country and society during the epidemic, please let the Chinese give us a chance to trust again, on behalf of a group of law-abiding pilots behind, I express my most anticipated aspirations.
We will not shirk responsibility when a person makes mistakes, and we will not shirk responsibility. Please believe that EVA Air will strengthen the management in the future, and we will also work hard to fulfill our duties. Please, the Chinese and the public do not disappoint us!
As a pilot, we will do our best, always。
