The F-16 single-seat fighter flown by Air Force Colonel Jiang Zhengzhi took off from Hualien at 18:05 last night. The radar spot disappeared northeast of Hualien Airport at 18:07. At the press conference, Xiong Houji divided the content of the report into five categories including: “event history”, “basic personnel information”, “weather and maintenance”, “flight call and trajectory” and “preliminary investigation and driving”.
Among them, in the “weather and maintenance” section, Xiong Houji said that the weather at the base of Hualien at that time was 4 3/8 miles, light rain, a thousand feet of scattered clouds, 3,500 feet of scattered clouds and 6,000 cracked clouds. According to other pilots of the time, there were 2,000 feet of scattered clouds in the sky and 4,000 to 7,000 feet of dense clouds. The above can be seen visually and meets training standards. The Air Force also preliminarily verified the accidental fighter plane, that is, the maintenance record for aircraft No. 6672 was not abnormal.

Therefore, Xiong Houji stated that the possibility of mechanical failure is initially considered low: based on existing radio communication records and experience in aircraft maintenance and other tests, the aircraft systems were operating normally before take-off and the radio air did not report records of mechanical anomalies. 7,000 feet altitude and other evidence, the possibility of mechanical failure is low.
