According to the “Daily Star” report from day 1, John is a senior medical student and father. He is adventurous. He often spends his vacation and a group of friends to explore caves large and small and enjoy the fun of exploring the unknown. . But in 2009, when he and his brother Josh went on an expedition to Nutty Putty Cave (Nutty Putty Cave), he had just entered the cave shortly after it was too narrow, and everything was completely stuck.
After discovering that his brother was trapped, Jia Xu tried to lift John’s calf, but was unable to catch the hook, and even he almost got stuck. Jash then crawled out of the cave and called for help. Although the local rescue team arrived quickly and immediately launched a rescue operation, the place where John got stuck turned out to be the “most tortuous and narrow part” of the entire cave. Rescue team member Shawn Roundy revealed that “the cave is narrow enough that rescuers hardly ever catch it.”

After 8 hours, the rescue team finally caught John and slowly led him to the entrance of the cave. The medical staff gave him an IV injection, gave him some food and water, and also asked him to speak with his wife on the phone. John was about to be retired. When he exited the cave, the equipment suddenly broke, causing the rope to loosen, and as a result, John returned to his original position and rescue operations must be restarted.

Rescuers noted that while John has always maintained his optimism and spirit, his physical condition has reached its limit due to the prolonged capture. After being trapped for 24 hours, Jones began to suffer from a lack of response and abnormalities in his body. It was too late to be rescued. He went up and eventually died of cardiac arrest. Later, the rescue team discussed “whether to bring out the dead John again”, and decided to keep his body in the cave and pour concrete into it to seal the cave, on the one hand, to prevent other people from being trapped. On the one hand, he also let Juan rest in peace and not be disturbed anymore. After the incident, the rescue team also installed a monument to commemorate the brave adventurer.
