Reporter Liu Yixuan / Taipei Report
China violently rushed to the reception of Fiji National Day and rogue diplomacy shocked the world. It is understood that due to large-scale reports in the international media, the Fijian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called it a “diplomatic incident” and intervened in the mediation. Therefore, prior to our report, China had withdrawn it, ending the incident. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared today (20) that if China takes any unfavorable measure, it will never compromise and will be investigated until the end. In addition, the Fijian government has also committed to sending staff to assist our foreign embassy in future public activities, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its appreciation for this.

A few days ago, Chinese diplomats broke into the National Day reception of our representative office in Fiji. When they were blocked, they faced violence and injured our staff in the foreign mission. After committing acts of violence, the Chinese side accused the staff of our foreign embassy, however, according to the “Freedom Times” report, under the mediation of Fiji, China had withdrawn the complaint yesterday. The Foreign Ministry issued a statement on handling follow-up to the case this afternoon, stating that since the inception of the case, we have fully explained the incident to the Fiji Police Service and request that it be handled. The Fiji side handled it fairly.
The Foreign Ministry claimed that the Fijian Ministry of Foreign Affairs actively intervened to resolve international disputes caused by China’s troublesome activities at the Chinese Embassy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs respects the fair handling of this dispute by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Fiji and safeguarding the rights and interests of our Embassy. The Chinese Embassy has formally reported to the Fiji National Police and completed the necessary procedures prior to submission. Although we have not yet filed a complaint, if China continues to take unfavorable measures towards us or continues to spread false information, we will never compromise and hold ourselves accountable to the end.

Our country’s representative office in Fiji faces a relatively difficult situation. However, our front-line diplomats will continue to fill their diplomatic posts in the most appropriate manner and uphold the dignity of the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also continue to support our colleagues abroad in defending national interests. In addition, Fiji has promised to send staff to assist our country’s embassy in public follow-up activities to prevent a repeat of the inconvenience. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is grateful.
The Fiji incident has temporarily ended. Regarding silence for more than ten days, foreigners said that Fiji is an important foreign flag and rich in fisheries resources. Many fishermen will go to the relevant waters. Although under Chinese pressure, the foreign flag was downgraded last year. In general, it is a difficult area for me, but the new representative, Li Qianyi, has worked a lot recently and the relationship between the two parties has improved. Furthermore, the diplomatic incident should have been resolved through diplomatic priority, so the case was not revealed for the first time.
