Xie Zongxin, director of the adult intensive care unit at Dongyuan General Hospital, said that during last year’s summer vacation, an 18-year-old boy surnamed Qiu was in a car accident while driving a motorcycle and a car. The intensive care unit nurse who was in charge of the adolescent’s care recalled that Qiu’s life-threatening process still persisted. One day, when meeting the guests, Qiu’s older brother suddenly said, “Brother, I’m going to eat your favorite chicken fillet!” I thought it was just a funny statement. Unexpectedly, the unconscious teenager began to accelerate his heartbeat, miraculously regaining consciousness a bit, and the signs of life gradually stabilized.
