Sword Art Online shows the Goddess forms of Leafa and Sinon in the War of Underworld trailer

Sword Art Online is preparing to finish the massive Alicization saga in a matter of days when it opens as part of the Summer 2020 anime season, and the final trailer for War of Underworld Part 2 shows the new Goddess forms of Leafa and Sinon in action. Before the first half of War of Underworld came to an end, she teased that Suguha and Shino would get involved in the battle in Underworld following in Asuna’s footsteps. With the remaining two remaining Goddess users in the system, the two will take Goddess forms like Asuna’s as well.

As Japanese users prepare to head to the Underworld to help defend human territory not only from the invading forces of the dark territory but also from violent American users, these other two users classified as Goddesses will be completely necessary to help change the course of battle if they are as strong as the form of the Goddess of Asuna.

But as we saw with Asuna’s “Goddess Stacia” power, there are limits to how much of this power they can use before being driven from the Underworld. This seems to be the case with the final trailer for the final half of War of Underworld, as well as no matter how much power they appear in battle, they soon feel overwhelmed.

Fortunately, this doesn’t look like it’s going to be the end. Along with Asuna and Alice, Leafa and Sinon will be key figures in aiding Kirito’s return to action after her coma in the first half of War of Underworld. Much of the fight in the first half was seeing Alice and the Integrity Knights face an overwhelming foe that they’re not fully prepared for, and Kirito being out of this for so long certainly didn’t help in the least.

As it is treated not only as the end of the longest and most intense arc of Sword Art Online to date, but the series as a whole is going to be very interesting to see how War of Underworld Part 2 puts it all to an end when it airs on Crunchyroll, Funimation, HIDIVE, and Hulu starting July 11.
