Shortly after Ibrahimovic’s flirtation on social media, SportExpressen got in touch with national team manager Stefan Pettersson.
– I don’t know why he publishes it, you can talk to him about it. I have no idea, says Pettersson.
When asked if Zlatan Ibrahimovic had been in contact with the national team about a comeback, Pettersson replied:
– I haven’t heard any of that.
Funny about Zlatan
National team defender Mikael Lustig has noticed Zlatan’s flirtation, but does not believe in the return of the Milan striker to the national team.
– What Zlatan is doing now, it has always been said that it is incredible, but he keeps driving, it is incredible. Zlatan also likes good times and knows that the national team is a few days away (laughs), I think it’s with a glint in his eyes. I understand it’s fun for you in the media to speculate, we’ve done it before and nothing happened then, but we’ll see what happens this time, says Lustig.
Do you think there is any possibility?
– No I dont think so. It’s been talked about before, but like I said before, this issue has been raised before and as far as I understand no contact has been made on Janne’s side or on Zlatan’s side and it’s probably first that contact needs to be made before it’s possible.
Should Zlatan have the golden ball?
– Yes of course. He’s been without football for the national team for a year except for a couple of games, but look what he’s done in Milan since he arrived. He has taken a scarred Milan that was in the middle and made them a top team, they are definitely his best players so yes he should have the ballon d’or.
