– We have wanted to work together for a long time and it felt so obvious. It will be like a call to continue with what you are doing, not to give up just because of the circumstances and the time in which we live, says Zikai.

She and Svea went to high school at Rytmus at the same time, but with an age difference of two years, they only met when they ended up at the same song publisher, Northbound Stockholm.

– We are both big fans of Rihanna and the message in the song for us is the joy you get from the music. We want to be able to give a good vibe in New Years, when everyone tries to keep the illusions before 2021. They want to be optimistic and believe that everything will be better and then this song fits perfectly, says Svea.

They were booked at festivals and other concerts throughout 2020. Svea released the 2019 EP “This is” and scored a hit with the debut single “Don’t mind me”, while Zikai has been primarily a songwriter for others. artists. At the age of 21 and 23, respectively, a bright future is predicted and Zikai, among other things, has been named “artist of the future” by P3.

When the corona pandemic hit, all the booked gigs disappeared. Instead, they have found alternative ways to reach the audience.

– I’ve done a lot of television this year. It feels good to have found other ways to promote yourself. I had my own talk show and got to try other creative things. The fact that he didn’t go out and play the same way has tired me of coming up with creative new solutions, says Zikai.

Svea, on the other hand, had a hectic year behind him when the pandemic wiped out everything.

– I was on tour in the UK and Germany and now I have realized at the end of the year that 2020 has been good for me. Since I graduated from high school, I have worked and have not had time to breathe. The fact that I had a chance to pause for a bit made me realize that I was actually completely exhausted. I may not have paled, because I am a person who pushes me and works all the time. In fact, I am grateful for this year, she says.

In SVT’s “Tolvslaget”, various artists perform at Skansen around the reading of Alfred Tennyson’s “New Year’s Bell”, recited this year by Sofia Helin. The program is done without an audience and Svea and Zikai want to transmit joy to those who sit at home and watch.

– We will try to offer a real show, with dancers and a feeling of real well-being. We want everyone to be in a good mood, says Svea.
