Häcken didn’t have a chance in the league final against Malmö FF.
Has the possibility of winning the Swedish Championship gold also disappeared?
Häcken is now nine points behind league leaders Malmö FF. It is true that Hisingslaget has played one less match, but team captain Rasmus Lindgren believes it will be difficult to fight for the Swedish Championship gold.
– It is clear that it is more difficult, but we are in a place where perhaps many would not have thought we would be before the season. We want to fight for places behind Malmö, says Lindgren after the 0-3 loss away from home.
Already after 16 minutes, MFF led 2-0 after goals through Ola Toivonen and Isaac Kiese Thelin. At the beginning of the second half, Kiese Thelin set the victory at 3-0.
– For us, it’s just forgetting about this game and taking the next one. Everyone knows that Malmö has the best squad, so it’s not true that we lost 3-0 because of that. We should be able to do a better match anyway, says Lindgren.
Before the summit in Malmö, Häcken had only conceded 18 goals.
– We were the best team in the series on defense in 19 rounds. Today we are no longer and we will not be the rest of the series. We have to rebuild and win in another way, says coach Andreas Alm.
The obstacle was unleashed ahead in the league final.
– We have no deals. We are concerned, Alm says.
