He also promised to create a “new, modern, united, prosperous, civilized, harmonious and beautiful socialist Tibet.”
The situation in Tibet has been brought to the fore by China’s increasingly cold relations with the United States. In July, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States would restrict the issuance of visas to Chinese involved in preventing diplomatic access to Tibet and in “human rights violations” there.
