WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says the study conducted by a group of the organization’s experts in Chinese Wuhan in March was not detailed enough.
– Future studies need access to more accurate and complete data, he says Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at a press conference.
Peter Ben Embarek, who led the study, says that there may be cases of covid-19 as early as October or November in Wuhan. The team that conducted the four-week on-site study in January and February is still working to trace the source of the virus.
– There were areas where we had difficulty obtaining adequate source information from China. But we never hope to find the definitive answer to the cause of the virus, he says.
Embarek says during the press conference, which was held in digital format, that the experts felt “politically pressured”, both from China and the outside world, to reach a satisfactory result. However, there was no pressure to change the report, which was cause for concern when the study began.
