A woman in her 60s was arrested on Monday, suspected of inciting violent disturbances after the Rosengård riots.
She has denied having urged the participants to attack the police.
Friday’s burning of the Koran in Emilstorp sparked widespread protests in Rosengård. At least 300 people were included in the crowd.
She didn’t want to start a riot. She wanted to show that her faith had been violated, she explained to Sydsvenskan through relatives.
The police have known his identity since at least the beginning of last week. Why the woman was detained and arrested only on Monday has not been possible to obtain an answer.
The prosecutor in the case, Tomas Olvmyr, is silent on the details.
– I will not have any comment to give regarding someone detained in the following case, write in an email.
– I can say that my client denies the crime. But I can’t say much more about the preliminary investigation at this point. She is currently in detention.
Some 15 people are suspected of a violent riot in Rosengård after the burning of the Koran in Malmö last Friday.
When asked why the number of suspects varies, Calle Persson, a police spokesman, responds:
– The figure changes as the investigation progresses.
Anti-Semitic slogans were also shouted during the riots, which police are investigating as incitement against ethnic groups.
The violent riots in Rosengård took place after the burning of the Koran and an unauthorized demonstration at Stortorget in Malmö. Three people were taken from the square by the police, suspected of inciting an ethnic group after kicking the Koran.
