In March last year, a 25-year-old man in Högsbo received, to say the least, an unwanted visitor. At two in the evening, someone suddenly knocked on his apartment door. Outside was his neighbor, a woman in her 40s, armed with a sturdy Ikea knife and a metal shoehorn.
According to Hem & Hyra, who first spoke about the incident, the woman has a long history of mental illness and compulsory care.
The woman thought that someone in the man’s apartment had yelled “let’s kill the bitch” and referred to her. He also thought that his little brother was in the man’s apartment. “He said that I was Muslim and that I had gay sex and that homosexuality is forbidden when you are Muslim,” the 25-year-old also said in questioning.

I had to stay nine months
The man claims the woman tried to stab him in the face, so he pushed her and called the police. When they arrived, it took two rounds of pepper spray before the woman gave up.
The property owner wanted to terminate the woman’s contract and took the rental board. However, the woman appealed to the Svea Court of Appeal. The higher instance followed the same line as the previous ones. However, during the nine months that the process lasted, the woman was able to stay.
History has left deep marks on the 25-year-old man.
“I feel very bad, I look behind me all the time, when I have to close the door. The house must be a security. Before I always used headphones, but now I don’t dare to put them on because I think someone will come to take me,” he says in police questioning.
