Late Sunday night, doctors at New Karolinska Hospital submitted a report to police. They then received a patient who was difficult to transport and barely spoke with leg injuries, a 41-year-old man whose condition was described as serious.

The man arrived in Karolinska by ambulance after a relative of his entered the house and found the man who could barely speak.

The relative has told police that after years of suspicion, they have confirmed her worst fears. On Sunday night, he entered the dilapidated apartment that had been the locked home of the suspected woman and son for decades.

“Got to manipulate society”

The 70-year-old woman, who has now been arrested and detained on suspicion of unlawful deprivation of liberty and serious bodily injury, is suspected of having kept her son locked up since she was 12 years old.

According to information from people close to the family that the police are now investigating, the son must have left school in the seventh year in the fall term and has since lived a life completely outside the community, locked in the apartment with the mother.

Expressen has spoken with the relative who found him alone and scared in the house.

– The mother managed to manipulate society in all the years, it is terrible that she was deprived of her entire life, says the relative.

When she was young, she herself must have tried to raise the alarm that the now-suspicious woman mentally broke her son, but when no one else in the family heard her concerns, she gave up. But he says that over the years he has suspected something was seriously wrong. According to the relative, the mother must have told the son from a young age that society, and all the people in the area, persecuted them and that only she could protect them.

“The whole apartment was like a garbage can”

When the relative found out this weekend that the 70-year-old was in the hospital, he headed to the apartment Sunday night. She describes what happened then as trauma.

– I can barely describe how it was, I’m in shock. The whole apartment was like a garbage can, he says.

– It can’t have been cleaned in decades, it was like stepping straight into a horror movie.

According to the relative, the 41-year-old loner was sitting in a corner. It must have been difficult to carry it with him and he was almost terrified when the candle was lit. He could hardly answer the accusation.

The man had no teeth, his legs were covered in large permanent wounds, and he could only stand up with great effort. The relative alerted medical information and then called an ambulance. The man was taken directly to the hospital. His condition is said to be serious.

Apart from his mother, the man, according to the relative, has not had any contact with other people since he was a child.

– The mother is guilty of this, but the whole society has let him down, he says.

Police are investigating the incident.

The 41-year-old has reportedly yet to be heard.

According to Aftonbladet, the mother has been “very overprotective” with her son due to a “previous event in the family.” According to the newspaper, she must have taken him out of school in her teens and then left him at home.
