Trying to dominate the corona pandemic by allowing the virus to move freely in society to achieve so-called herd immunity is “unethical,” says Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, head of the WHO, at a digital press conference.

“Never in the history of public health has herd immunity been used as a strategy to respond to an outbreak, much less a pandemic,” he says, noting that herd immunity is achieved by protecting people from a virus, not exposing them to the.

Tedro’s Adhanom Ghebreyesus also notes that it is estimated that less than 10% in most countries have had covid and that most people are still susceptible to the virus.

– Allowing a dangerous virus that we do not fully understand to move freely is simply unethical. It is not an option.

This spring, it was speculated that the relatively mild Swedish measures to shut down the partnership were in fact attempts to achieve herd immunity. Such speculations have always been rejected by the Swedish Public Health Agency.
