WHO base Tedros is accused of supporting the rebels

-He has done everything possible to support them, he has campaigned for neighboring countries to condemn the war and has tried to get weapons for them, says Berhanu according to various international media.

The war between the federal government in the capital Addis Ababa and the TPLF movement, which is based in the disputed province of Tigray, has rapidly sparked ethnic conflict and refugees have testified of abuses against civilians by both sides.

In the capital and elsewhere in Ethiopia, tigers have lost their jobs and their ethnic origin has also been recorded on lists drawn up by the security forces.

Now the World Health Organization chief of staff, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is embroiled in conflict in his home country. The country’s army chief, Berhanu Jula, accuses him of supporting the TPLF rebels.

Berhanu Jula was appointed as recently as November 9 to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s new army chief amid a fierce offensive. According to Berhanu, Tedros has “turned every stone” to support TPLF.

“We do not expect him to side with the Ethiopians and condemn these people (in the TPLF),” Berhanu told a press conference in which he even accused Tedros of trying to arm the movement.

Tedros is a tiger and was born in the Eritrean capital Asmara, which was then part of Ethiopia, and has been Minister of Foreign Affairs in the former TPLF-led government in Ethiopia during the years 2012-2016.

The statement is a sign of how the situation has escalated and how the Ethiopian regime, led by last year’s peace prize winner Abiy Ahmed, sees the world’s demands for reflection.

A large number of human rights organizations and UN agencies have called on all parties to the conflict to lay down their arms, and the government has been criticized for not giving aid organizations access.

It was previously estimated at 1.9 million people are fleeing in Ethiopia. In recent weeks, more than 30,000 people have crossed the border into Sudan from Tigray.

Tedros has not commented on the allegations from the country of origin, writes BBC.
