The benchmark for PFAS in groundwater is a maximum of 90 nanograms per liter. In samples from the Kistinge industrial zone, up to 20,000 nanograms per liter have been found in groundwater and also in a stream and river in the area, the levels are high. It is unclear where the contamination is coming from and a liability investigation will now be conducted, the Halmstad municipality writes in a press release.
