Soon, United fans can see Rooney in the red jersey again. Wayne Rooney’s eldest son, Kai Rooney, has decided to follow in his father’s footsteps.
On Wednesday, Wayne and his wife Coleen Rooney posted a photo on social media of their 11-year-old son with a contract and a United jersey with the number 10 on the back, the same number his father played with.
– Proud day. Kai signs for Man Utd. Keep working hard, my son, Wayne Rooney wrote on Twitter.
Kai Rooney has a lot to accomplish if he wants to beat his father. During his 13 years with the United jersey, Wayne Rooney managed to score 253 goals in 559 games, and is one of the club’s best scorers of all time.
Add to that five Premier League titles, three league cup titles, an FA Cup victory, a Europa League title and a Champions League title.
Right now, Wayne Rooney is the interim coach for Derby County. The 35-year-old joined the club in August last year and has had a coaching role up for grabs ever since, but had to take over fully after Philip Cocu was fired in the fall.
