A wave of false alarms has hit Malmö. Stock Photography.
Recently, a series of false alarms about shootings, aggravated violence and fires in Malmö have been called to the SOS Alarm and have led to major emergency calls.
– The false alarm means that the police, the ambulance and the rescue service have great resources in the places where they are not needed. And then people who really need help have to wait, Jimmy Modin, press spokesman for the Malmö police, tells Sydsvenskan.
Among other things, false alarms have occurred last week that a woman had been shot and was lying on the ground seriously injured in Rosengård, there have been alarms that a school was on fire and that a person was about to jump off a high-rise building.
The crime of false alarms can result in up to a year in prison, but callers are difficult to locate. The alarms this weekend, for example, had been called from mobile phones without a SIM card.
