The alarm over the school fire came shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday night.
At 9.40 pm, twelve units were from the rescue service, Sydsvenskan writes.
– It is a large building that is on fire and the risk of spreading is great within the school area. The fire is not under control, we hope to be there at least overnight, says Mats Nilsson, internal commander of the Syd rescue service in Sydsvenskan.
The police are also on the scene.
– We have cordoned off an area around the school so that the rescue service can work without interruption with firefighting work, says Jimmy Modin from the police in the southern region.

Currently, the police have no criminal classification.
– It’s too early for that. Right now it’s an active extinction job. When you’re ready and starting to monitor what’s going on, we’ll start looking at those pieces.
Due to the fire and heavy smoke development, an important announcement has been issued to the public. The rescue leader urges everyone in the area to enter and close doors, windows, and ventilation.
Gullviksskolan is a school in the south-east of Malmö with 320 students from preschool class to year 6.
