The alarm came to SOS Alarm at 03.26 on the night before Christmas about a house fire in Björklinge, north of Uppsala.

Initially, it was unclear if anyone was left in the building, but after the rescue service began to die down, the owner returned from a dog walk.

– We have been on the site and collaborated with the rescue service. There was no one left in the house. Initially we were looking for a person who we suspected was in the house, but he returned after a dog walk, says Tobias Ahlén, a press spokesman for the Central Region Police.

The building could not rescued but there was no risk of spread.

– It is a residential area with nearby villas, says Tobias Ahlén.

The house will burn to the ground in the morning.

– We let it burn in controlled ways. We’ll leave people on site during sunny hours of the day just to make sure nothing happens, says Christer Wahlström, commanding officer of Räddningscentral Mitt.

Still not clear how the fire started. Later, the police will make an investigation of the place.

– We will write a general negligence report, but it is unclear how the fire started and there are no suspects at this time. We will investigate what has happened. The person who has lived there has stated that he set fire to a stove, but it is not clear if that is the cause of the fire, says Tobias Ahlén.

Other circumstances were initially unclear.
