The Viking Line passenger ferry, Viking Line Grace, ran aground inside Mariehamn on Saturday. The information arrived at 1:20 p.m.
The Swedish maritime rescue confirms that an accident has occurred.
– It’s on the ground inside Mariehamn, it’s all we know, says Lars Blom, from the Swedish Center for Maritime and Air Rescue.
There is no information on injuries. According to Ålands Radio, the ferry is firmly on the ground, but there are no oil leaks. The ferry does not take water either.

Eleonora Hansi, press officer for Viking Line, tells DN that the grounding occurred near the pier inside the port.
– I can confirm that Viking Line Grace has had a basic feeling on the way from Stockholm to Turku via Mariehamn.
According to Hansi, it is 331 passengers on board, but all are safe. In addition to the passengers, there are also 98 crew members on board.
– And from what we know, there are no leaks either. It’s completely impossible to talk about how long the ferry will take to take off, says Eleonora Hansi.
According to Ålands Radio, the ferry is stranded just outside a boardwalk. Viking Line is assembling its crisis organization, according to chief information officer Johanna Boijer-Svahnström, but the company has no further information on the situation.
– There is no water leak, he tells the radio, and explains that it is the storm that caused the stranding.
A movie Ålands Radio posted on Facebook shows how Grace is with one side facing the earth and very close. The stern is slightly out while the bow appears to have run towards the beach.
About a month ago, another grounding occurred, with the Viking Line ferry Amorella.
Amorella veered off course and drove over a larger rock south of Lumparland in the Åland archipelago. After noticing a leak, the captain decided to run aground to ensure the stability of the ship.
