Viewers are enraged at SVT: “It’s nothing but a total catastrophic failure”

On Saturday night, the special SVT adventure began with a week of the Eurovision Song Contest. The actual event was canceled due to the corona virus, but now Swedes will be able to vote on contributions from all countries in their own competition. However, a specific part of the program does not seem to have been appreciated at home on TV sofas …

The Eurovision Grand Finals in Rotterdam were canceled and which country would become the European winner in 2020 remains a mystery. OR? SVT announced shortly after the main competition was canceled that they are now betting on their own final where Swedish viewers can vote on which international song gets Sweden’s 12 points. The show will be called “The Twelve of Sweden” and will air Thursday with Sarah Dawn Finer as the show’s leader.

In “Twelve Sweden”, contributions from 25 countries will participate. The starting field will be selected in a vote that started on Saturday night with “Before ESC”, led by David Sundin and Christer Björkman. Viewers also vote on their favorite contributions with the help of Melodifestivalappen.

In total, 41 contributions were played in the box. However, viewers expecting to see the songs in their entirety were disappointed. They were served in abbreviated form and one thing that seems to bother viewers on the couch primarily is SVT’s twelve “couch thickeners”, including Linda Bengtzing, Titti Schultz, and Daniel Hallberg, who fell on the scene and commented on the songs directly while they played and thus overwhelmed the music.

Several viewers expressed their anger on Twitter during the show. Here is a selection of reactions where we deliberately choose the ones that mostly consist of swear words:

In the Melodifestivalen application there is the entire start field with video contributions from all countries, without comments.

The vote will end on Sunday at 22.
