NEW YORK. For the next fourteen days, they are willing to do anything to break each other’s dreams.
But in reality, Victor Hedman and John Klingberg, the two big stars of the Swedish back in this year’s Stanley Cup final, are good friends who have great respect for each other.
Victor has been the best defender in the league in recent years, so of course, I watched him a lot, Klingberg says of Hedman, and similar accolades come in return.
It is, especially from a blue-yellow perspective, one of the most fascinating dimensions of the Stanley Cup final that is unleashed in the so-called Edmonton bubble tonight:
Two of the best rinks in Swedish hockey history are found in the largest hockey match in existence.
In the corner of the Tampa ring we have Victor Hedman, a 29-year-old bastard from Ö-vik who is currently playing better hockey than ever and scoring goals that no defender has scored in a playoff in decades, and in Dallas is John Klingberg, 28 year old album. – and a skating artist from Lerum and Gothenburg who also made sure to participate in almost every crucial situation during the Texas club’s journey to the final.

Victor Hedman lifts the Prince of Wales trophy after the conference final against the New York Islanders.
That is really remarkable about both gentlemen. They are true match winners that never thrive better than when they come together in the biggest matches.
– Well my ambition is always to be the best on the ice and right now it feels good. I have good speed in my legs and the pucks go in, so it’s just a matter of shooting, says Hedman by phone from the Canadian prairie.
“Is a great player”
Klingberg describes his attitude in the same way.
– I think it’s the most fun to play when it really means the most. So I also get the best out of my game.
In the near future, they will do anything to make this happen for each other, but the stars are really good friends and have the utmost respect for each other.

John Klingberg applauds during the series with the Vegas Golden Knights.
– I think it will be a lot of fun playing against John. He’s a fantastic player, one of the best in the league, great on skates and puck. We’ll have to keep an eye on him, says “Vigge.”
– We know each other well, we have the same agent (Peter Wallén, editor’s note) and together we won a wonderful gold at the 2017 World Cup. He is a very funny and good person.
“Of course I looked at it …”
Similar accolades come in the other direction:
– Victor is an incredibly good hockey player and probably the best defender in the league in recent years. So of course it is important to know when he is on the ice because he is the engine both in the game with the puck and without it. Also, a great leader says “Burger”.
– It is clear that I looked at him and his way of playing to see if there is something to learn and add to my own game. He is also a very funny and humble Northerner.
Right now, however, friendship must be put on ice.
The great duel of the Swedish back is yet to be decided, and with that the battle for the Stanley Cup.
