Four parliamentary parties are demanding that the possibility of compensation be expanded for risk groups who cannot work as a result of the crown, Ekot reports.
Financial support has already been extended once, from September 30 to December 31. Now the Christian Democrats, the Liberals, the left-wing party and the Swedish Democrats demand that support remains until there is a vaccine or the infection subsides.
– It is strange to abruptly interrupt a compensation that must exist so that groups, where you cannot work from home, bus drivers, auxiliary nurses can also stay at home, says Ida Gabrielsson, spokesperson for the Left Party on social security issues to Ekot .
In June, the Riksdag decided that people belonging to certain risk groups and their relatives who abstained from work due to the risk of being infected with COVID-19 are entitled to the so-called carrier allowance. Among other things, people with chronic lung disease, certain cancers, and people who have undergone transplants were entitled to compensation.
Ekot has submitted a request to the Minister of Social Security, Ardalan Shekarabi (S), who announces in writing that the starting point is that the absence from working life should not be long-term, but that the infection situation is carefully considered and that employers have a great responsibility to adapt workplaces to reduce the risk of infection.
The Center Party and the moderates have not decided their position on the issue.
