As in many other regions of Sweden, it is now possible to see an increase in Covid-19 in Skåne as well. This is after the infection abated a bit in the region last week.

In a press release on Friday morning, Region Skåne writes that the number of positive cases has increased from an average of 59 to 69 per day. At the same time, they warn that municipal care has been affected. In total, about 30 cases have been registered in elderly people over 70 years of age.

– There are worrying signs that the infection is once again visible in municipal care because it affects the elderly and frail. We really need your help now so this doesn’t slip away. Keep your distance, wash your hands frequently, and refrain from meeting other people if you feel unwell. Phone calls and video calls are a good way to stay in touch if you don’t want to expose yourself to infections, says infection control doctor Eva Melander.

On Friday, 13 people are treated in the ward and two are admitted to the intensive care unit in Skåne. Most are served in Malmö (7) and Kristianstad (5), respectively.
