On Monday night, three older women from Lomma, Helsingborg and Landskrona were tricked into handing over bank cards and jewelry to unknown perpetrators.
The first alarm reached the police at 6:39 p.m.
A man had called a woman in her 85s who claimed that someone had obtained a loan in the woman’s name. Later, the woman was tricked into giving her bank card, bank card code and jewelry to a man who showed up at her home.
At 20:07, the police received the next fraud alert, after a woman in her 90s living in Helsingborg. He had given his bank cards and the code to two unknown men. The men said that the woman’s relatives said it was okay to pass out the cards.
A few minutes later, at 8:11 p.m., an 85-year-old woman in Landskrona was the target of a similar fraud and left her bank card and code with several unknown persons who showed up at her home.
In all cases, the scammers managed to withdraw money from the women’s bank cards.
– We are on the site in all cases and collect information, among other things, about information, the best we can, and other circumstances, says Evelina Olsson, press spokeswoman at the police command center.
Could it be the same scammer?
– Of course we have to look at it. The common denominator is that three older women have been affected, and if you look at it geographically, they may well be the same people, but we’ll have to look at that at a later stage.
