The man, who is in his 30s, was transferred to Sweden this week and is now in custody on suspicion of various crimes that took place in Stockholm during the spring. It deals with preparation for murder, kidnapping, robbery, gross public destruction, attempted aggravated extortion, and aggravated crime with weapons.

13 people, most of whom belong to the Vårbynätverket, have already been arrested for similar offenses. According to the police, there may be more arrests in the future.

“A breakthrough”

According to the police, there are several investigative measures that led to the leader being arrested, including material from encrypted chats, the so-called Enchrochat.

– This means a breakthrough for our hard work against criminal networks in the southern Stockholm police area. We have long had a strategic approach where we prioritize this network and current arrests are now the result of this, says Susanne Wikland, head of serious crimes in the police in the southern Stockholm region in a press release and continues:

– In the long term, we hope that this will provide our citizens with greater security and that criminal networks will become weaker and smaller. We will continue our offensive work and work leaning forward with a focus on our citizens.
