The headaches started already in the spring, around the change of the month of March and April.
In the morning, everything could be fine, says Lova. Sometimes it was as if the pain had disappeared.
But it always came back.
– It is difficult to describe the headache itself. But it felt heavy on my head, says Lova.
– If I didn’t have pain all day, I might still feel like it would hurt a little later. Somehow it came gradually.
Week 28, the holidays really began, when Lova and her family left home in Vaggeryd and went to Ronneby for a few weeks of relaxation in a reserved summer cabin.
But once there, Lova’s condition worsened. She lay down on the bed and the couch, it felt hard to just go to the bathroom.
– Lova began to get very dizzy and had a great headache. She couldn’t bear to participate in anything and was very tired, says Lova’s mother, Martina.
Received several different messages
Martina continues:
– The first thing we heard about caring was that headaches were common in girls Lova’s age. But we were allowed to test Lova’s blood value and we did not refuse. When we got a reply, we were told that the blood value was fine. But Lova only got worse.
Medical visits continued.
When a doctor discovered that Lova lacked reflexes in her legs, her eyes were focused on some kind of neurological problem.
The next message, according to the family: It could be Lyme disease, which Father Samuel himself had a couple of times.
– Had to leave a urine sample also because they suspected urinary tract infection. So Lova started taking antibiotics. But the health center called me and said that there was no urinary tract infection either.
– Then the days went by and we didn’t hear anything. Lova didn’t get better, it only got worse, says Martina.
After three weeks, Lova received a magnetic X-ray, then it was quick, about which Värnamo Nyheter was the first to report.
– Lova had an X-ray done at eight thirty in the morning on a Friday and at lunch the nurse called her and told her that they had found a supposed cyst in the halves of the brain, says Martina.
– Then Lova was hired for an operation in Linköping on Thursday of the following week.
Lova performed the so-called peephole operation, about three inches from the head. Two windows were created between the halves of the brain for the fluid to begin to move.
A week from dying
The really dramatic news came only after the operation. In fact, Lova was only days away from being blinded by the strong pressure that the cyst created in her eyes.
– The Linköping surgeon told us that we had no choice but to operate, says Martina, and continues with a trembling voice:
– It had only taken a few more days and Lova had gone blind. In a week she had died. It was so serious.
Just over a month has passed since Lova’s intervention in Linköping. So far, he has not fully recovered: he is not allowed to go biking and there will be no gym at school.
– I must not be active, so there will be no training. So I’m still extremely tired, says Lova, who before the operation was actually more afraid of having to get rid of light hair:
– I absolutely did not want it to be shaved or disappeared.
But your hair fits, right?
– Yes, he only shaved around where he had surgery.
Go on a ski vacation
In the future, there is a certain risk that problems will reappear; therefore, several review visits await within the walls of care in the near future.
But Lova doesn’t have to worry about any longer lasting buts. It is true that he has suffered a minor injury to one eye, but the hope is that it will heal on its own.
– We are going to go up to Linköping on a new visit, otherwise I don’t know much more about what is happening now. Lova can be released and you can start releasing this, says Martina.
Now all your vacations are gone due to all the hospital visits. Have you planned something more fun for winter to make up for it?
– Yes, we have a trip to Sälen booked. We can only hope that Lova can ski until then. You are not allowed to receive any blows to the head at this time.
– But otherwise, it can also be fun to just sit back and watch everyone go. We really hope that, concludes Martina.
