Vaccination is lagging behind, as the Skåne Region will receive twenty percent fewer deliveries from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer in the future. Nursing homes are up and running, but there will be delays for people with home health care and home care, and care staff who have not yet received the first injection.
Vaccination is already lagging in priority group 1, people with home health care and home care and also for healthcare personnel.
Perhaps even for more groups, if the allocation decreases for several weeks.
– Our great concern is that it is not possible to trust vaccine deliveries, and it generates frustration in the health centers and with all our employees who work day and night with planning, says regional councilor Gilbert Tribo (L).
– This is a damn soup with the different messages. The national vaccine coordinator, the Swedish Public Health Agency and the government must make sure they take action against the EU and vaccine companies!
Late last Friday, Pfizer sent a message that they will reduce their deliveries to all EU countries for a couple of weeks.
According to Maria Landgren, Vaccine Coordinator for the Skåne region, the promised 14,000 doses were delivered this week. Vaccination in Skåne nursing homes can continue. Residents and staff from three nursing homes in the Helsingborg area who were the first to receive their second syringe and thus full protection.
Hospitals have this week received 4,000 doses, including the first 1,400 doses of Moderna’s vaccine, to continue vaccinating “front-line personnel” in IVA, acute care, infection and ambulance, and then other healthcare personnel.
Next week, Skåne will receive twenty percent fewer doses than those calculated by Pfizer.
– What suffers is the rate of vaccination of the next group, care personnel and people with home care and their coexistence, says Maria Landgren.
It is awaiting information from Pfizer on how long the reduction will last.
– The most critical thing is that. We have many who need to receive a dose of two in the next few weeks, deliveries completely determine the rate at which we can give more doses of one,
Regional planning because how vaccines for nursing homes and home health care will be distributed, transported and organized is a huge puzzle. The problem in Skåne is not finding vaccinators, but getting enough doses to maintain a constant rate.
The previous plan was also that the offer to all Scanians over 70 years old would come out in mid-February from health centers.
– It is very important that Astra Zeneca gets approval for its vaccine at the end of January, it is intended to be used for the large group, says Maria Landgren.
