The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved approval of Regeneron’s antibody cocktail for the treatment of patients with covidity who are not hospitalized.

The drug had a great media impact when President Donald Trump was treated with it for COVID-19 in October.

The antibody cocktail has been shown to reduce COVID-19-related hospital admissions and emergency room visits for those patients who have other underlying ailments, writes the AFP news agency.

“Approving this monoclonal antibody treatment can help patients avoid hospitalization and ease the burden on our health care system,” said FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn.

Regeneron’s antibody cocktail will be the second synthetic antibody drug approved in the United States after a similar drug from Eli Lilly gained the same status on November 9.
