Uppsala Water is warning Björklinge residents about people who say they want to take water samples from their homes.
People say it comes from the company, which it doesn’t.
Uppsala Vatten writes in a social media post that its staff and subcontractors always introduce themselves by name, and that they should not let in anyone claiming to be from the company but unable to identify themselves. “This applies even if the meeting has already been decided by phone or letter,” the company writes.
Anyone who has the slightest doubt as to whether a person really represents Uppsala Vatten or not can also contact customer service for verification, urges the company that knows of several cases where clients have been visited by unknown persons who have said they should take water samples. Some have also been told that there is a failure in the water pipe under their house and that they should spend money to rent a machine to fix the problem, according to residents Upsala Nya Tidning spoke with.
On Wednesday, a VMA, an important announcement to the public, was issued that suspected contaminants had been found in drinking water in Björklinge, as well as in Skuttunge and Läby. Residents have since been warned not to drink or cook with tap water because pollutants cannot evaporate.
