The curve regarding the number of confirmed cases in the county continues to rise. At present, there is no indication that the uptrend will slow down anytime soon.

– We see 1000 new confirmed cases since last week. There is no indication that it is going down. Keep in mind that each of these 1000 people infects others. Everyone except those we live with needs to be put aside right now, says Mikael Köhler, director of health and medical care.

This summer, one percent of those who tested positive. Now that figure is around 15 percent.

– It is important that you stay home with the slightest symptoms of a cold, says Johan Nöjd, infection control doctor in the Uppsala region.

In addition, the region described the seriousness of the situation that is currently developing.

– It is an incredibly serious situation. It’s a reflection of how he looked in society about two weeks ago, says Fredrik Sund, operations manager for infectious diseases at University Hospital.

“We need to do more!”

Depending on the region, staff are tired and resources are limited.

– We depend entirely on personal responsibility. If we think we were doing a lot this spring, we need to do even more now! I stay home and if I make an exception, I meet my father on Father’s Day, that’s how I handle it, says Mikael Köhler.

Today, about 70 patients with covid-19 are being cared for. Nine of them are in the intensive care unit.

– There are many who call attention to issues that refer to completely different things. I’d like to urge you not to call the health service if you have questions about what applies to travel, for example, says Fredrik Settergren, Business Area Manager for Close Care and Health.

Follow the advice as if they were laws urging county residents of the region.

– We cannot punish anyone, but it is extremely important now that we do what we can to reduce the infection. Follow them as if they were teams, says Mikael Köhler.
