The strike notice stems from the fact that, according to HRF, Svensk Handel has not accepted a low-wage investment and is opposed to higher employment rates.
“During the negotiations, Svensk Handel has consistently refused to accept improvements for those who earn less. We, as a union, cannot accept that the minimum wage is not increased. Reasonable wages are a prerequisite for decent workplaces, “HRF contract secretary Per Persson says in a comment.
If no agreement is reached, a strike will break out at the Ikea Kungens Kurva, Barkarby and Västerås restaurants on December 11 at 11 a.m. Approximately 300 employees are affected by the notice.
Swedish trade criticizes
Svensk Handel is highly critical of the Hotel and Restaurant Union (HRF) strike notice at Ikea restaurants. According to Svensk Handel, the tip is that HRF wants higher pay increases than other industries.
HRF justifies the notice by saying that Svensk Handel has not accepted a low-wage investment. According to Svensk Handel, they accept HRF’s demands for a low-wage investment, but in that case it must be financed within the industry-brand cost framework of 5.4 percent for 29 months.
