This spring a new agreement was reportedly negotiated between the Kommunal union and the SKR employers’ organization.

Then came the pandemic, and the contract movement was postponed until this fall. SKR now demands a myriad of agreement for the care staff.

– In principle, it can mean zero crowns in salary increase, says the president of Kommunal.

– I think it’s reprehensible. The time we live and the work our members have done have not really been recognized. With the crown in the rear-view mirror, employers must understand that it is our turn to get real pay increases and better conditions, says Kommunal union president Tobias Baudin.

The agreement between SKR and Kommunal expired on March 31, but was extended this spring until October 31.

During these months, the care staff, who is represented by Kommunal, have received public praise for their work during the corona pandemic.

Kommunal now wants people with vocational education in health and care to receive a pay increase of at least 3.5 percent. For those with no education, the union requirement is 3 percent. In addition, they want the new agreement to be applied retroactively from April 1, so that healthcare personnel do not lose money due to postponement of the agreement.

He does not want the employers’ organization SKR, the municipalities and regions of Sweden, which demands that the central agreement be innumerable, that is, that it does not have a limit on how much or little the locally negotiated wage increase should be. The possible salary increase that the staff would receive in March, SKR also does not want to pay retroactively.

– They want a deal which means there is no guarantee and can mean zero crowns in salary increase. We have gotten used to hearing that it is not Kommunal’s turn to raise the salary, but now we believe that it is time, says Tobias Baudin.

Aftonbladet has applied to SKR, who has not returned for an interview, but confirms that they want a deal without numbers for salary negotiations to take place locally.
