Uncertain fate for owl in tram accident

A tram in Gothenburg passed late Thursday night on an owl. The bird was alive during the night, but now it has become a police matter, writes Göteborgs-Posten.

The reason is that animals that are considered to have a particularly high natural value should be sent to the Swedish Museum of Natural History in Stockholm if they are found dead. And on Thursday, it was still unclear if the owl in question belongs to any of the categories covered by the rules, the state game.

– Yes, we don’t know at the moment. It must be determined, but it is difficult for a police patrol in the dark, Sebastian Börjesson, an officer on duty in the police, tells the newspaper.

Therefore, the owl is allowed to spend the night with the police before more decisions are made on Friday morning.

– If you live, the bird center will probably pick you up early in the morning. If not, we can package it and send it to the museum in Stockholm, says Sebastian Börjesson.
